Ingredients:

  • 6 sausages of your choice
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of red wine
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Preparation:

1. Cook the sausages: In the Monsieur Cuisine, select the «Fry» mode and add the olive oil. Once hot, add the sausages and cook for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. Remove the sausages from the Monsieur Cuisine and set aside.

2. Prepare the wine sauce: In the same Monsieur Cuisine bowl, add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and red bell pepper. Select the «Fry» mode and cook for 2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened. Add the red wine, beef broth, tomato paste, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Close the lid and select the «Stew» mode at 180°C for 10 minutes.

3. Make the mashed potatoes: While the wine sauce is cooking, place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15 minutes or until tender. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk and butter. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or use the Monsieur Cuisine «Puree» mode until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Finish the dish: Once the wine sauce is done cooking, add the sausages back to the Monsieur Cuisine bowl. Close the lid and select the «Simmer» mode at 100°C for 5 minutes to heat the sausages through. Stir occasionally to coat the sausages in the flavorful sauce.

5. Serve: Spoon a generous amount of the wine sauce onto a plate. Place a sausage on top of the sauce and serve with a dollop of creamy mashed potatoes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
