Discover the Deliciousness of Naranjas Confitadas con Olla GM: A Sweet Spanish Delight

Are you ready to embark on a flavor journey to Spain? One of the most delightful Spanish treats is Naranjas Confitadas, also known as candied oranges. This sweet delicacy is made by slow-cooking oranges in a sugar syrup until they become tender and infused with a delightful citrus flavor. In this recipe, we will show you how to make Naranjas Confitadas using the Olla GM, a popular electric multicooker. Get ready to indulge in this sticky, sweet, and tangy delight!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large oranges
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Preparation:

Step 1: Wash the oranges thoroughly under cold water. Using a sharp knife, slice off the top and bottom of each orange. Score the skin of the oranges from top to bottom in four evenly spaced sections.

Step 2: Fill the Olla GM with 4 cups of water and place the oranges inside. Close the lid and set the Olla GM to steam function at a temperature of 100°C for 10 minutes. This will help remove any bitter taste from the oranges.

Step 3: Once the steaming is complete, carefully remove the oranges from the Olla GM and let them cool down for a few minutes. Once cooled, peel off the skin and discard it. Cut the oranges into slices of your desired thickness. Set aside.

Step 4: In a clean Olla GM, combine 3 cups of granulated sugar, 4 cloves, and 1 cinnamon stick. Add 1 cup of water and set the Olla GM to manual mode at a temperature of 120°C for 5 minutes. Stir the mixture occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

Step 5: Once the sugar has dissolved completely, add the sliced oranges and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the Olla GM. Stir gently to coat the oranges with the syrup. Close the lid and set the Olla GM to manual mode at a temperature of 90°C for 60 minutes. This slow cooking process will allow the oranges to absorb the flavors of the syrup.

Step 6: After 60 minutes, open the lid of the Olla GM and check the consistency of the syrup. If it has thickened and coats the back of a spoon, your Naranjas Confitadas are ready. If the syrup is still thin, continue cooking for an additional 15 minutes.

Step 7: Once the Naranjas Confitadas are ready, remove them from the Olla GM and let them cool completely. Transfer the candied oranges along with the syrup to sterilized glass jars and seal tightly. The Naranjas Confitadas can be stored in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.

Now that you have mastered the art of making Naranjas Confitadas with the Olla GM, you can enjoy this sweet Spanish delight on its own, use it as a topping for desserts, or even incorporate it into your favorite recipes. The possibilities are endless! Indulge in the sticky, sweet, and tangy flavors of Spain with this delectable treat.
