Ingredients:
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 100g sugar
- 120ml vegetable oil
- 200ml plant-based milk
- 10g active dry yeast
- Zest of 1 orange
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp orange blossom water
- A pinch of salt
- Candied fruits for decoration
- Almonds for decoration
Preparation:
Step 1: Activate the yeast
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in a little bit of warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is active.
Temperature: Warm
Time: 5 minutes
Step 2: Mix the dry ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, orange zest, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to ensure all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Step 3: Prepare the wet ingredients
In a separate bowl, mix together the vegetable oil, plant-based milk, vanilla extract, and orange blossom water. Stir until well combined.
Step 4: Combine the wet and dry ingredients
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix everything together until a dough forms. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Step 5: Let the dough rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Leave it in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Temperature: Warm
Time: 1 hour
Step 6: Shape the Roscón
Punch down the risen dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Shape each part into a round ball and make a hole in the center to form the Roscón shape. Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 7: Let the Roscón rise again
Cover the shaped Roscón with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
Temperature: Warm
Time: 30 minutes
Step 8: Bake the Roscón
Preheat the GM Pot to 180°C. Once heated, place the baking sheet with the Roscón inside the pot. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Temperature: 180°C
Time: 20-25 minutes
Step 9: Decorate the Roscón
Once the Roscón is completely cooled, decorate it with candied fruits and almonds. You can also add powdered sugar on top for an extra touch.
Step 10: Enjoy!
Serve your homemade eggless Roscón de Reyes with a cup of hot cocoa or your favorite beverage. Enjoy this delightful treat with your loved ones!
