Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced into thin rounds
  • 150g goat cheese
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish

Preparation:

Caramelized Onions:

  1. In the Monsieur Cuisine, select the «Fry» mode and add the olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking the onions for another 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown.
  4. Stir in the balsamic vinegar and season with salt and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  5. Remove the caramelized onions from the Monsieur Cuisine and set aside.

Assembly:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the baguette rounds on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, until they are crispy.
  3. Spread a generous amount of caramelized onions on each toasted baguette round.
  4. Crumble some goat cheese on top of the onions.
  5. Place the montaditos back in the oven for 3-5 minutes, until the goat cheese is slightly melted.
  6. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh thyme leaves.
