Delicious and Nutritious: Try This Homemade Almond Milk Recipe with Thermomix
Almond milk is a popular dairy-free alternative that is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. Making your own almond milk at home with a Thermomix is easy and allows you to control the ingredients, ensuring a high-quality product. Follow this recipe to enjoy a creamy and flavorful almond milk that is perfect for drinking, baking, or adding to your morning coffee.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 4 cups water
- 1-2 pitted dates (optional for sweetness)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional for flavor)
- Pinch of salt
Preparation:
1. Soak the almonds: Place the raw almonds in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak overnight or for at least 8 hours. This will help soften the almonds and make them easier to blend.
2. Drain and rinse the almonds: After soaking, drain the almonds and rinse them under cold water. This step helps remove any phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors from the almonds.
3. Blend the almonds: In the Thermomix, combine the soaked almonds with 4 cups of water. If you like your almond milk on the sweeter side, you can add 1-2 pitted dates at this point. Blend on high speed for about 2 minutes until the almonds are finely ground.
4. Strain the almond mixture: Place a nut milk bag or a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the almond mixture into it. Squeeze or press down on the bag/strainer to extract as much liquid as possible. This will separate the almond pulp from the milk.
5. Flavor the almond milk: Return the strained almond milk to the Thermomix and add a pinch of salt and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, if desired. Blend for another 30 seconds to incorporate the flavors.
6. Store and enjoy: Transfer the almond milk to a sealed container and refrigerate. Homemade almond milk will last for about 3-4 days in the fridge. Shake well before using, as separation is natural. Enjoy your delicious and nutritious homemade almond milk in smoothies, cereal, or simply on its own!
