Indulge in a Decadent Delight: Flan de Cafe con Mambo
Flan de Cafe con Mambo is a delicious and indulgent dessert that combines the rich flavors of coffee with the tropical sweetness of mambo fruit. This creamy and decadent flan is the perfect way to end a meal or to treat yourself to a special treat. The combination of coffee and mambo creates a unique and unforgettable flavor that will have you coming back for more.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 mambo fruit, peeled and diced
Preparation:
1. Prepare the Caramel:
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to boil. Continue to cook, without stirring, until the mixture turns a deep amber color.
Temperature: Medium heat
Time: 10-15 minutes
2. Pour the Caramel:
Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
3. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
4. Prepare the Flan Mixture:
In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, instant coffee granules, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.
5. Add the Mambo Fruit:
Gently fold in the diced mambo fruit into the flan mixture, being careful not to break up the fruit too much.
6. Pour the Mixture into the Baking Dish:
Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish.
7. Create a Water Bath:
Place the baking dish into a larger baking pan. Fill the larger pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the side of the flan dish. This will create a water bath for the flan.
8. Bake the Flan:
Carefully transfer the pan to the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
Temperature: 350°F (175°C)
Time: 50-60 minutes
9. Cool and Chill:
Remove the flan from the oven and allow it to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, cover the flan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to set.
10. Serve and Enjoy:
To serve, run a knife around the edge of the flan to loosen it from the dish. Place a serving plate on top of the baking dish and carefully invert the flan onto the plate. The caramel will drizzle over the top, creating a beautiful and delicious dessert. Slice and serve the flan with extra mambo fruit on top, if desired. Enjoy your indulgent Flan de Cafe con Mambo!
